Surah Lahab is the 111th chapter (surah) of the holy Quran, Islam’s sacred book. In English, it is also known as “The Flame” or “The Palm Fiber.” This surah is brief, with only 5 verses.

Allah’s Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.1. May Both The Hands Of Abu Lahab Be Destroyed, And He Has Been Destroyed.
2. His Wealth Did Not Benefit Him In The Least, Nor Did Whatever He Earned.
3. He Will Soon Enter The Fire With Layers Of Flames.
4. And His Wife (too), Carrying The Bundle Of Wood On Her Head.
5. A Rope Made From Date Palm Fibre (will Be) Around Her Neck.

Surah Lahab Information
Al Lahab is an Arabic term that translates as “The Flame” or “The Palm Fiber.” This name is taken from a reference to Abu Lahab, a famous person in the surah who was both the Prophet Muhammad’s صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم uncle and one of his most ardent adversaries.
Surah Al Lahab was revealed at Makkah (Mecca), one of the holiest places in Islam.
Number of Verses: It contains 5 verses (ayat).
Themes: Surah Lahab is a brief but powerful surah that criticizes Abu Lahab and his wife, Umm Jamil, who were prominent Quraysh clan members in Mecca and vehement opponents of Islam. The surah indicates their final fate and punishment in the Hereafter for their hatred of the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and attempts to discredit his message.
