Definition of “Al-Kausar”: “Kausar” is an Arabic noun that means “plenty” or “excellent.” In the context of the surah, it alludes to Allah’s wealth of benefits and goodwill bestowed upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Number of Verses: The surah is made up of 3 verses (ayahs) that stress Allah’s bounties and benefits on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):

Significance: Surah Kausar reminds Muslims of Allah’s enormous bounties and benefits bestowed upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It urges Muslims to pray and thank Allah for these gifts. Scholars interpret the allusion to the Prophet’s opponents being “cut off” as a portent of the final defeat of those who fought the message of Islam.
